Website health check.

Find common issues with links, image descriptions, forms and mobile settings.

Enter a page address to check the everyday things that stop visitors using it: image descriptions, form labels, headings, the mobile setting and links.

Why it matters

Small things that lose visitors

A broken link, an unlabelled form field or a page that will not fit a phone screen are the everyday reasons people give up on a website.

Search engines notice too

Image descriptions, headings and the mobile setting are what search engines read. Getting them right helps people find you as well as use the site.

A starting point, not a full audit

This check looks at one page and a sample of links. It is designed to give you and your website provider a clear list to start from.

Common questions

Before you run it, or after you have.

What does the health check look at?

One page of your website: whether images have text descriptions, whether form fields have names, whether headings are in a sensible order, whether the page has the setting that lets it fit a phone screen, and a sample of up to eight links to other pages on your site.

Is it safe to run?

Yes. We read the page as a visitor’s browser would and try a few links. We do not send any forms or change anything.

Why only one page?

So the check stays quick and free. The problems it finds are usually repeated across a site, so one page is a good indicator. A full-site review is something we can do for you.

What do I do with the results?

Give the report to whoever looks after your website. Each item has a plain next step. Most are quick fixes.

Does a good result mean the site is fully accessible and fast?

No. This is a check of the everyday basics, not a full accessibility or performance audit. A good result means the basics on this page are in place.
